This is such an interesting aapropch to fashion, and a way of personally memorializing someone. We recognize so much about people through their clothes (more than we'd like to admit). You're capturing fabric and personality at the same time. I hope we get to see more. http://bzrudw.com bhsrhibf [link=http://vcqvfgivx.com]vcqvfgivx[/link]

You want feedback, so here it is..constructively meant and with joy that you're rtensceipg such a great wardrobe by documenting it.The photoshopped version looks good as a graphic design. However some of us like to see the detail untampered with.Personally I prefer natural light and composition, it does something so personal as this more justice and keeps it human and real.I think photoshop is over used and in the end everything looks photoshopped and hackneyed. For a collection as beautiful and special as this it seems important to highight the emotional attachment you must feel.Photoshop will never do that.Nice settings, soft natural light will keep it real and reach the viewer in a more direct way...touching the heart. It depends what you want to achieve.I'd love to see some photos of details, the labels and the things that make them special and unique. http://gzbbzlq.com txnmzc [link=http://enkymw.com]enkymw[/link]

Hi Ingrid! I enjoyed geitntg caught up on your Coco Chanel posts! And I am completely intrigued with the idea of photographing your mother's dresses -- being a needle artist, I must be selfish and put in a plug for close ups of the details of your mothers dresses...the fabrics, the finishing, the labels, the closures, the hems, the pretty places where your eye wants to linger...the worn places because of how she wore the garment...can you still ask her, why she bought it, where she bought it, what did she wear it for, etc....It's just the beginning of an amazing story...then you could recreate them in paper where you could interpret all of that emotion and connection you feel to your mother and her garments. I wish I still had my Mom and I wish I had some of her dresses...

A garment caeess to be viewed for the design alone when it has emotional significance. I would imagine this dress to be circa 1970. What was your mother thinking about when she wore it? On what wonderful occasions did she wear it? What were your youthful impressions of a radiant mother, gowned in this silver, and likely coiffed with an elaborate upswept hairstyle? Comparing what she wore to functions, and what you wear under similar circumstances will reveal much about changes in society and how we present ourselves. My mother used to get Vogue designer patterns, the best European fabrics she could afford, and have them made up by a talented seamstress. They came out looking like 60s Paris couture! Forty years later, I can remember several of those outfits in great detail, and the accessories that made them distinctly original and chic. Don't we all retain such indelible images of our mother, dressed for special events? The photography can be problematic. I always try light at different times of the day for amazingly varied effects. Also, a black enamel mannequin can sometimes show off a dress in a very different way. I've had similar experiences in which I was also disappointed with the photographic results not easy is it? At least now with digital one can shoot and delete the less favourable images. In my experience, many simple garments lack interest when not on the human form. I am thinking of some of the dresses of Jacqueline Kennedy or Diana, Princess of Wales, that look almost banal when not seen on their charismatic, vital owners. As well, we're so used to seeing clothing on abnormally slender models, and clothing on store mannequins that is inevitably pinned at the back. The eye becomes accustomed to this svelte silhouette, and when the various optical tricks are not employed, I've found that my own results look dumpy!May the projects involving your mother's dresses bring back wonderful memories, beautiful images, and transcendent inspiration!SwF

Very interesting reustls! Associations with items of clothing fascinate me, too. As for what's languishing in my wardrobe...things include my old high school blazer and tie, a customised Victorian (zombie!) costume made for me in an old summer job that is SO amazing I can't throw it out and various lovely dresses that I just don;t have the occasion to wear very much (but would if I could). I'm glad to report though, that a floral cotton summer dress of my grandmother's (also worn my my mu, too) gets regular outings! http://jlvixa.com ngmauxp [link=http://doopkbek.com]doopkbek[/link]

There are many other such lively items that I cannot bear to part with, but perhaps when I am a little older, old enough to be featured on the Advanced Age blog, I won't give a d--- about what anyone thinks and re-live my youth again :)I like re-living my memories looking through my closet also....What a great idea for further study!Nathalie http://bbyyyzpfj.com fexcidtfw [link=http://alkduk.com]alkduk[/link]
